Culture of kava
The most important crop on the island, treated that way.
In Vanuatu, kava is both sacred and the main source of income for village farmers. It’s shared in ceremony, used to settle disputes, poured for guests, and drunk at the end of an ordinary day.
We buy from small growers on Epi Island who work a single noble cultivar the same way their families have for generations. Vanuatu law only allows noble kava to leave the country, and every lot is inspected and certified by the Vanuatu Bureau of Standards before it does. We’re glad the rules are strict. It means the kava in your bottle is the kava the islands would actually drink.
